Nick Ireland – Usdaw Divisional Officer says: “Usdaw welcomes the Welsh Government’s revised guidance on the sale of non-essential items in shops that will remain open during the ‘firebreak’. We are now urging retail employers to clearly indicate to customers which aisles will be closed over the next two weeks. We also urge customers to only shop for essential items and respect shopworkers, who are there to help keep the country fed; abuse should not be a part of their job.
“We are absolutely clear that it is not the responsibility of shopworkers to enforce these new arrangements and it is up to the public to follow the rules. We also remind customers that they should wear a face covering in store, observe social distancing, shop alone if possible, only buy essential items and pay by card if they can. It is important that we all work together in these difficult times to help the country through this appalling pandemic.”
