Distance Learning

These are courses where you learn at home, usually on a computer, laptop or tablet. For paper versions please contact your Project Worker.

There are courses to help your career, improve your skills and expand your knowledge in subjects like Equality and Diversity, Diabetes and Mental Health. You will get a recognised Level 2 qualification certificate when you complete the course.

The courses may be free but due to devolved funding this depends on your postcode so check with the provider first, but they will be free for many Usdaw members. Where there is no charge, you need to complete the course to avoid an administration fee.

Due to recent changes to funding requirements in the devolved nations, Learning Curve can currently only fund these courses to learners in England. If you are a learner in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland interested in finding out about the distance learning course offer in your area please contact your Lifelong Learning Project Worker.

You need to be confident in your computer skills and be able to use word processing software, complete forms and send emails. You also need to have access to a computer which has the Microsoft and Adobe software and can access the internet.

If you are confident with your IT skills you can go to learningcurvegroup.co.uk to see what’s on offer or and register for a course.

Your Project Worker can tell you more.

In Scotland Usdaw’s Lifelong Learning project is working with our training provider The Learning Curve Group and West College Scotland to offer learners in Scotland fully funded distance learning courses.
