Usdaw is a democratic Organisation. It starts with the member, then the rep, then the branch, then the region and then progresses to national level where the major policy decisions are made. These are then fed back to the membership.
Usdaw has seven geographical regions across the UK – South Wales and Western, Eastern, Midlands, North West, North Eastern, Southern, and Scottish. Each region organises its own Union activities and conferences and also sends delegates to national conferences and events.
Every Union member is part of a branch. This may be based on where you work and who you work for or your branch may be part of a geographical branch including workers from various companies. Usdaw has around 550 branches at present.
The branch is run by reps who plan their own activities and elect delegates to both regional and national conferences. Any member can get involved with the Union and in the first instance should find out who their branch official is, when the branch meets and then go along to the meeting.
