In early January England and Scotland joined Wales and Northern Ireland in announcing another national lockdown.
For parents, this has led to a great deal of uncertainty and stress. There is as yet no clarity about when schools will re-open and this has left many families frantically trying to find a way to balance work and care.
Working parents have already had to deal with repeated periods of disruption to schooling and childcare and have often struggled to balance leave, work and caring.
Usdaw wants to actively support working parents during lockdown and beyond.
We have set out below the current situation for Usdaw members who are juggling working with parenting. We explain what the law says about lockdown and childcare and what Usdaw is doing to try and ensure parents get the support they need at work.
