Keep your cool as temperatures rise says Usdaw

Date: 19 July 2016 The law says your employer must maintain a reasonable workplace temperature, but doesn't specify a maximum reasonable temperature. Experts say the comfort zone is normally in the region of 16C to 24C.

John Hannett – Usdaw General Secretary says: ‘Employers are expected to take reasonable steps to deal with situations where the temperature is uncomfortably high and with the hot weather in many parts of the country this week we want members to know that action can be taken. There is helpful advice on this issue in our Keep Your Cool Tackling Heat Stress at Work leaflet.

‘If you want better health and safety conditions where you work, make sure you're in Usdaw and talk to your rep about the problems in your workplace.’
