Weetabix industrial action put on hold as staff balloted on a revised offer

Date: 23 January 2017 Following further discussions between Weetabix and Usdaw, a revised offer is now going out to ballot between 1 and 10 February. Usdaw members had voted for industrial action in December, by 91.7% for industrial action on a turnout of 69.5%, over the company's proposal to vary shift patterns.

Ed Leach - Usdaw Area Organiser says: “Following the overwhelming vote in favour of industrial action, the company immediately contacted me to seek further talks on suitable financial incentives for employees who have moved shift or will be expected to move onto the new 24/7 shift pattern.

“We welcome the company’s positive engagement with us to seek a solution that will avoid the industrial action backed by our members. They have listened to staff and brought forward an improved offer, which we are balloting members on.”
