Concentrix propose significant job losses at the Argos and Sainsbury’s call centre in Widnes – Usdaw to enter consultation talks

Date: 12 July 2024 Retail trade union Usdaw represents staff at the Sainsbury’s and Argos call centre in Widnes that was recently outsourced to Concentrix, a global technology and services company, who have now announced plans to offshore a significant amount of the work. The site at Ditton in Widnes employs around 600 staff and the Concentrix proposals could put over 450 jobs at risk.
Mark Malone – Usdaw area organiser says: “Our members are shocked and devastated by the proposal to offshore significant amounts of the work done on behalf of Sainsbury’s and Argos from the Widnes call centre. Usdaw will now enter into consultation talks with management, where we will interrogate and challenge the business case for the company’s proposals. Our priorities are to retain as many jobs as possible at the site and secure the best deal available. In the meantime, we are providing our members with the support, advice and representation they need at this difficult time.”
