Eluned Morgan congratulated by Usdaw on becoming the next Welsh Labour leader

Date: 24 July 2024 Retail trade union Usdaw has congratulated Eluned Morgan MS on being elected unopposed as the next leader of the Welsh Labour Party.
Paddy Lillis - Usdaw General Secretary says: “We welcome that Eluned Morgan has been elected unopposed to lead the Welsh Labour Party and look forward to working with her to improve the lives of workers in Wales and deliver for our members.

“We know that Eluned will hit the ground running, with her vast experience in the European Parliament, House of Lords and as a Minister in the Welsh Government. We also welcome that Eluned is the first woman to be elected to the Welsh Labour leadership, another landmark reached in the battle for equality.

“Usdaw members, their families and working people across Wales need a strong and united Labour Party in the Senedd to work with the new Labour Government in Westminster. After 14 years of Tory austerity, incompetence and attacks on workers, there is a great deal to be done to deliver the change our members desperately need.”
