The union is also using the day to highlight the pressures working single parents face and the need for a new deal for workers on pay and employment rights. Spring Budget 2023: Usdaw joins the call by the Carer Poverty Coalition for Government action 14 March 2023 Retail trade union Usdaw has today joined with the Carer Poverty Coalition in calling on the Chancellor to address carer poverty in Wednesday’s Spring Budget, making the case that it is unacceptable that 44% of adults providing 35+ hours of unpaid care a week face severe financial hardship. Carer’s Leave Bill: Usdaw urges Peers to support as a step in the right direction, but amend to make it paid leave 02 March 2023 Retail trade union Usdaw is calling for Peers to support the Carer’s Leave Bill, which would give people with caring responsibilities a right to unpaid leave from work. The Bill received was passed unopposed by the House of Commons and is set to receive its second reading in the House of Lords on Friday 3 March. Usdaw will be looking for the Bill to be amended at a later stage to make the proposed leave paid. Peers urged by Usdaw to support stronger redundancy protections for pregnant women and new parents 02 March 2023 Retail trade union Usdaw is calling on the House of Lords to support a new law aimed at boosting workplace protection for pregnant women and new parents. The Protection from Redundancy (Pregnancy and Family Leave) Bill is timetabled for a second reading debate in the House of Lords on Friday 3 March. New coalition to end carer poverty launches, which is supported by Usdaw and over 90 other organisations 14 February 2023 Retail trade union Usdaw has joined forces with over 90 organisations to help unpaid carers escape poverty.
