The conference runs from Friday 4th - Sunday 6th March 2022 and takes place at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.

Sainsbury’s announces a restructure of cafés, bakeries and counters – Usdaw is supporting affected members

Retail trade union Usdaw has been briefed by Sainsbury’s about their proposals to change café, bakery and counter services in over 200 stores that will impact around 2,000 staff. Usdaw is the largest union in Sainsbury’s and reps will now engage in localised discussions.

Continued mask wearing in Welsh shops welcomed by Usdaw

Retail trade union Usdaw has welcomed the Welsh Government retaining the legal requirement for shoppers to wear face coverings, if they are able to. While the requirement is being phased out in some public venues, face coverings will continue in Welsh retail possibly for another month. A review is expected on Friday.

Usdaw has long called for retail staff to have a proper break over the Christmas and New Year period. The union has secured legislation and negotiated improvements with employers, but there is much more to be achieved and the campaign continues.

Retail trade union Usdaw is urging the Government not to end, next week, free test kits and the requirement to self-isolate. The union believes caution is still needed while infection rates and deaths are still high and is also calling for a new deal on Statutory Sick Pay (SSP).
