BHS administration costs higher than expected, Usdaw questions why more wasn’t done to save jobs 18 January 2017 The Work and Pensions Committee today published correspondence with the concurrent administrators of BHS, Duff & Phelps and FRP Advisory, which show that the costs of the administration were £1.3 million higher than estimated in June 2016. Alliance Healthcare proposed restructure brings uncertainty for staff 17 January 2017 Alliance Healthcare has today announced a restructuring of their Health and Beauty operations, which could have an impact on staff working hours in all service centres, a temporary relocation of work for the Nottingham service centre and a possible significant reduction in headcount at the company’s South Normanton site. Racism at Work Survey 10 January 2017 The TUC has launched an online survey to expose the everyday reality of racism. Usdaw is encouraging all members to take part in the survey to expose racism in the workplace. Devastating news for Tesco distribution workers in Chesterfield and Welham Green 09 January 2017 Following a review by the company, Tesco has announced that they propose to shut their distribution centres at Welham Green in Hertfordshire and Chesterfield in Derbyshire. Also, following a pilot management restructure that took place in Lichfield and Hinckley, Tesco has decided to roll out the new structures to all their distribution centres. Usdaw calls for respect for shopworkers on Boxing Day and throughout the festive period 21 December 2016 Shopworkers’ trade union leader John Hannett has urged shoppers to keep calm and show respect for retail staff when going out to the Boxing Day sales and throughout the festive period. Weetabix staff vote overwhelmingly for industrial action over proposed shift changes 19 December 2016 Following a breakdown in discussions between Weetabix and Usdaw on the company's proposal to vary shift patterns, the union’s members have voted by 91.7% for industrial action, on a turnout of 69.5%. Usdaw's survey of Lidl staff shows they need the union to get a fairer deal at work 16 December 2016 Usdaw is the trade union for Lidl staff and today we are stepping up the campaign for recognition and give the staff a strong voice at work. We are focussing on Lidl stores across the North West, with an ad van and activists talking to staff and shoppers. Usdaw campaigners are also outside M&S, Aldi and Lidl stores in every region across the country.
