Usdaw joins with the Trades Union Congress (TUC) and other sister trade unions in backing
‘a just transition to a greener, fairer economy’ strategy.
Paddy Lillis – Usdaw General Secretary says: “We have a great deal of admiration for Greta Thunberg, who through her campaigning and speeches has motivated many young people to demand urgent action from politicians to tackle the climate crisis.
“The trade union movement is campaigning for the move to a low-carbon, zero-emissions economy through a ‘just transition’ strategy. That strategy seeks a greener economy, where jobs in polluting industries are replaced with new jobs that are just as good in terms of pay, skills, pensions and trade union recognition.
“We must keep the pressure up to tackle the climate crisis. Greta Thunberg and school students have led the way; they have our backing and solidarity.”
