BRC and Usdaw jointly call for an end to violence against retail workers

The latest survey of shopworkers by Usdaw shows that violence has increased by over 25% in the last year. This is despite the British Retail Consortium (BRC) figures showing record spending of over £1 billion by retailers on crime prevention.

Shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw has today launched Respect for Shopworkers Week with shocking statistics from their annual survey which shows that an average shopworker is verbally abused, threatened or assaulted more than 21 times a year, which is nearly once a fortnight.
