From Peterloo to Boohoo - the campaign for workers' representation is still relevant today says Usdaw

Tomorrow marks the 200th anniversary of the Peterloo Massacre, when 60,000 women, children and men gathered at St Peter’s Field in Manchester to peacefully campaign for parliamentary representation and were charged upon by the cavalry, resulting in 18 deaths and around 700 injured.

Usdaw welcomes retailers working together to lobby the Government for business rate reform

Shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw has welcomed a letter to the Chancellor, signed by over 50 retailers calling the Government to fix the "broken" business rates system. The Union’s own Industrial Strategy for Retail calls for the Government to commit to providing a fair, proportionate and modern business rates system that works for all sectors.

The shadow minister’s backing came after he met an Usdaw delegation and is a further boost for the union’s campaign.

Shoplifting up by 17% in the last 10 years - Usdaw calls for the Government to act to cut crime and protect shopworkers

Shopworkers’ trade union leader Paddy Lillis has called for Government action in light of the Office for National Statistics today reporting a 17% increase in police recorded incidents of shoplifting in England and Wales over the last decade.

Minimum wage of at least £10 and an end to rip-off youth rates - Usdaw gives evidence to the Low Pay Commission

Shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw is today giving oral evidence to the Low Pay Commission (LPC) on minimum wage rates, ahead of the LPC making recommendations to the Government about National Living Wage and National Minimum Wage rates to be introduced on 1 April 2020.

Workers at Sainsbury's Waltham Point to take second round of strike action on 25 July says Usdaw

Usdaw trade union has now given notice that members at the Sainsbury’s Waltham Point distribution centre will take part in a second round of 24 hour strike action on Thursday, 25 July 2019. The dispute relates to changes to the attendance policy which are being unilaterally implemented by the company.
